Facial recognition firm Clearview ‘aims for government contract’

Facial recognition search engine Clearview is aiming to win its first large US government contract, according to sources reported by Reuters.

The New York-based company, founded in 2017 by Hoan Ton-That and Richard Schwartz, also told the news publication that it plans to expand its team by a third.

Clearview provides software to law enforcement, companies, universities, and consumers and has said its solution learns from 70 million online photos of different demographics.

The news comes after Clearview announced a $30 million Series B funding round that valued the company at $130 million in July.

Twitter demanded that Clearview stop taking images from its website for its image database in January 2020.
